Fl studio vs paid12/5/2023 ![]() What FL has over reaper is it's stock plugins. Reaper works like every other daw where one track in one track. FL has a wierd routing layer where you have to route every track to the mixer indipendently. So you can basically make reaper behave like fl. You can change keybindings, create new ones makes your own buttons for the gui. And if Reaper has something to offer that FL studio doesn't have. Is Reaper is missing anything major that FL has. Keep in mind that it is possible that your bottleneck might not be the daw. So testing it out is risk free (no upfront investment). Reaper has a fully functional infinite trail. Off the top of my head: customisability, multiple cc channels viewable on midi, pre-VST plugins, complex time signature and tempo changes, notation editor, MIDI plugins, correctly mapping mod wheels and pedals to virtual instruments by default, speed of loading large libraries, midi editor tools (especially quantisation and humanisation), non-destructive editing of audio and midi, video playing and editing capabilities FLS doesn't even have, freezing and unfreezing tracks, track routing, track folders, setting middle C to the ISO and piano standard C4, ability to work with mp3/wav/flac/ogg (saves HUGE space compared to FLS reliance on WAV only)Īnd if reaper actually runs better than FL However, Reaper is better in almost every other way. ![]() ZGameEditorVisualiser - You'll have to return to FLS to generate music videos FLS has some nice ones that you'll have to buy VSTs to match (and Reaper's script ones have no documentation). The only way to keep clips you aren't using currently in your track is move them to the very end of the track, or some unused muted channels at the bottom of your list. Reaper, and in fact nearly every DAW, doesn't have this. There's no way around this unpleasantness and it's what I miss most about FLS. It's tedious to keep selecting the midi clips you want, pushing a key, and waiting for a popup window to open on the screen (which doesn't show in screen recordings either) and move it where you need it. People will say you can set your own hotkeys for the MIDI window management to match FLS you can't. One keystroke (F5-F10) to switch windows. If you use Patcher a lot you'll need to buy Mux Modular to compensate. People will say you can route things to match it in Reaper you can't. I've used both and found Reaper is missing the following: We'd love to hear what you have produced with Reaper, but please post it in the weekly sticky. PS, I have about $300-$400 dollars to spend.Posts should be related to Reaper, the digital audio workstation and MIDI sequencer software created by Cockos. ![]() Has anyone tried that? sorry for the long post I just wanna make sure I spend my money wisely. One thought that I've had is this I could buy Ableton standard ($270 with upgrade discount and Ableton's 30% discount,) and buy FL studio fruity edition only for the piano roll. I really want to get that, but if I get Ableton (which again, I love the workflow,) then some of the course will be useless to me. Anyways, there's this one guy named Curtiss King that has an FL Studio course online. I love how FL handles midi but I love how Ableton handles samples even more. I like the workflow of Ableton A LOT, but I miss FL's piano roll. I've been considering Ableton and FL Studio, but I can decide between the two. I am relatively new to music production, and I haven't yet settled on a daw yet.
